Summer Arts Society: Massachusetts Cape Cod

Join us for the Summer Arts Society’s “American Journey,” a captivating series that delves into the rich artistic history of the United States. The series runs from May 6, 2024, to June 24, 2024, with sessions held every Monday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. On June 24, we will explore “Massachusetts: Cape Cod,” a haven for many renowned artists.

Cape Cod has long been a source of inspiration for artists, including Edward and Jo Hopper and Edwin Dickinson. Joel Meyerowitz’s color photographs beautifully capture Provincetown’s unique charm. Blanche Lazell, an often overlooked artist, contributed significantly through her printmaking. The artistic legacy of Provincetown also includes the abstract works of Hans Hofmann, Milton Avery, Robert Motherwell, and Helen Frankenthaler, whose creations offer profound sensorial experiences.

This enriching journey through American art history is designed to enlighten and inspire. Whether you are an art enthusiast or simply curious about the profound impact of these regions on the art world, this series promises to be both educational and engaging.
